The John Robert Lewis Creative Legal Strategists Internship (JRL Creative Legal Internship) is a transformative three-month mentorship program founded by The McBath Law Firm, PLC. Named after the legendary civil rights leader and congressman John Lewis, this program embodies his spirit of creative resistance and strategic thinking in the pursuit of justice.
Our program is designed to expose minority middle school, high school, and undergraduate students to the dynamic and multifaceted practice of law. We believe that tomorrow’s legal professionals must master not only traditional legal knowledge but also innovative problem-solving and creative strategic thinking.

During the course of the program, students will gain invaluable practical and professional experience through immersive engagement in real legal practice. Participants will observe trials, engage in legal discussion and analysis, and meet with a diverse network of practicing attorneys—from tech CEOs and corporate executives to honorable judges, trial attorneys, politicians, and community leaders.
Students will have the opportunity to review actual legal cases, analyze statutes, and complete authentic legal tasks while developing the creative thinking skills essential for modern legal practice. Our curriculum emphasizes both rigorous legal analysis and innovative problem-solving approaches that distinguish exceptional attorneys in today’s competitive legal landscape.
The JRL Creative Legal Strategists Internship exists to inspire minority students to pursue careers in law while showcasing the vast opportunities available in legal practice.
